The whole thing with “clair” abilities has always interested me. I have suspected that I’ve got something going on there… not sure if it would be labelled clairvoyance or claircognizant or what, but in general I’ve always felt like there were certain things I just knew.
I want to practice some things to develop this and test it. Recently I discovered a method that I really like from a book called Green Witchcraft by Paige Vanderbeck. I will outline this method below and possibly add other methods to this post if I discover any more that I like.
The Moon: Testing Clairvoyance
- Pull out The Moon from your tarot deck along with 2 other random cards.
- Study The Moon card. Develop a clear picture of it in your head. Feel the card in your hands. Perhaps feel the other cards and study them to see if you notice anything that differentiates them in their overall vibe.
- Optional: something that I incorporated was staring at The Moon card and telling it, I seek you.
- When you’re done, turn the cards face down and shuffle them around several times. Try not to accidentally memorize the position of The Moon. Then lay all the cards out in front of you.
- Try to locate The Moon. Spend some time grounding yourself and studying all the vibes of the cards. Run your hands over them, give them a sniff, close your eyes and try and picture them – test all your senses and see what works for you. Then flip the card you think is The Moon.
- If you’re wrong, don’t sweat it. Just repeat the process and tweak your methods a little. Try something different.
For me, my method of grounding usually involves picturing myself in the woods somewhere. I found that my instincts put me in the woods at night, staring up at The Moon. After trying this a few times, the picture in my head of the crescent shape of the moon would rotate as if it was pointing at the card.
The first time I tried this, I got it right 5 out of 6 times.
I was kind of baffled and afraid to keep going for fear of screwing up my nice record. The one time I got it wrong (maybe the second or third try?) I think I had talked myself out of my first guess. It helped me realize that my gut feeling was the right one. And after getting it wrong, I had to give myself a little pep talk and remember the goal is figuring all of this out. Not making zero mistakes.
Everything is trial and error.
